Liturgy celebrated well informs the mind, enkindles the heart, and inspires the soul. It orders the human person towards right worship of the Divine. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that liturgies be attentively prepared in accordance with liturgical norms, bear fidelity to the rich heritage of the Church, are enriched by an authentic sense of ars celebrandi, and enable the “full, active and conscious participation of the assembly” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, no. 14).
The role of the Diocese of Gaylord Worship Commission is to support the Diocesan Bishop, who as “the first steward of the mysteries of God in the particular Church entrusted to him, is the moderator, promoter and guardian of her whole liturgical life” (Redemptionis Sacramentum, no. 19). The Commission assists in the mission of the Diocesan Bishop by serving the needs of pastors, parochial vicars, deacons, directors of parish life, lay liturgical ministers, OCIA directors, and the other faithful who participate in the Liturgy. The Commission serves as an advisory body to the Diocesan Bishop, making recommendations to him via Committee proposals that promote right worship in the Diocese of Gaylord.
