Transfiguration
Today (8/6), we celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord— the glorious moment on Mount Tabor in Israel where Jesus climbed high upon the mountain, and after prayer with his disciples, Peter, James and John, He was changed in appearance by a brilliant white light.
Radiating purity and brightness, Jesus conversed with the prophets Moses and Elijah, with an affirmation from on high, confirming Christ's identity by the Father.
This event declares Jesus' divinity, His relationship with the prophets and provides earthly confirmation from the Father in Heaven that Jesus himself is the living Word of God. Praise to God's Kingdom!

Seminarian Education Fund
Support our seminarians! In 2012, Archbishop Bernard Hebda initiated the Seminarian Collection to financially assist seminarians with their tuition and expenses. A seminarian’s journey is very demanding, as he must complete six to eight years of study and formation, earning a bachelor’s in philosophy and a master’s in theology. The cost of this education today for each seminarian is upwards of $40,000 per year. Without prayerful and financial support, many seminarians would be unable to pursue their vocation. However, thanks to the generosity of parishioners, the diocese helps cover the cost of our seminarians’ tuition, room and board, and health insurance. This year, our diocese will have five men in formation. Please consider making a gift to support the Seminarian Education Fund. Contributions can be made online at DioceseofGaylord.org/SeminarianFund. Checks should be payable/sent to the Diocese of Gaylord (611 West North Street, Gaylord, MI 49735).

Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, we should reflect Christ’s light to the world. When we receive the Eucharist, the body and blood of Jesus, we are called to be supernatural to reflect His love, mercy and forgiveness to others. When we are grateful for all that God has given us, generosity flows through us because we are made in God’s image.
