Mrs. Maureen DeYoung Appointed Principal of St. Ann Seaton Middle School

The Diocese of Gaylord Office of Catholic Schools welcomes Maureen DeYoung as principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School in Traverse City, MI starting in the 2023/24 school year.

 

Mrs. Maureen DeYoung earned her bachelor and master degrees from the College of Education at Michigan State University.  She has served in a variety of roles during her career including classroom teacher, reading specialist, special projects coordinator, lower elementary principal and recently assistant principal of Immaculate Conception in Traverse City.  She has been with Grand Traverse Area Catholic schools for 22 years and is actively involved with their annual fundraiser, Gladhander, as well as being the producer of the annual St. Francis musical.  She also serves on the Board of the City Opera House in Traverse City. Mrs. DeYoung and her husband, Doug, have been married for 33 years and have two grown daughters who are alumni of Traverse City St. Francis.  Katherine is an opera singer in Chicago and Molly is a nurse in Grand Rapids.  

She shared, "I am humbled and honored to be the next Principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and helping adolescents navigate these tender years to guide them on their path to be who God called them to be. Working in Catholic education has been a blessing, and I am excited for this next chapter where God is calling me."
