Statement on Presidential Inauguration of Joseph Biden

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / JANUARY 20, 2020

Prayers for the Leadership of President Joseph R. Biden Jr., 46th President of the United States of America

GAYLORD, MICHIGAN — “On this Inauguration Day, I extend my congratulations to President Joseph Biden and his family. My prayers are with him, and his administration, as he begins his tenure as the next leader of our nation,” states Bishop Walter A. Hurley, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Gaylord. “May God give him wisdom and fortitude through every season of his presidency — both in the face of adversity and trial, and in times of unity and peace.

“Today’s events offer us a renewed opportunity to pray for unity in our country. In the course of the coming months, there will be decisions and policies enacted that uphold our Catholic faith; conversely, others will deeply conflict with our faith and values. It is expressly in the face of such a moral landscape that we humbly choose the path of Christ: We steadfastly pray for all of our leaders and seek the Lord’s will, in our own individual lives and as an American people. Let us come together in prayer today, asking God’s blessing on President Biden and Vice President Harris, and on their families and all those who serve our country.”
