Called to Lead

Feature

For Stacey Mochty, faith has always been the center of her life. Growing up immersed in parish life, she learned at an early age that God’s presence shapes every decision.

After nearly 30 years in public education, Stacey embraced a new calling in 2023—to serve as principal of Holy Family School in East Tawas, allowing her to nurture both minds and hearts. Guided by Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God,” Stacey knew that God was leading her to service him in this new role.

“Every day I get to help my students become little disciples of Christ striving to be little saints,” Stacey shares. “It is such a gift to be part of their faith journey.”

Faith in Action

Stacey is visibly present to her students, leading with love and example. From morning greetings to classroom visits, adoration, rosary and Mass, she models virtues that reflect Christ’s love. It is with this great love that she counsels children, celebrates their successes and addresses mistakes with reflection and prayer.

“I want them to see that love, forgiveness and grace are not just words we talk about—they are choices we make every day,” she explains.

She equips families and teachers with tools like the Christ Our Life series and the Hallow app to foster growth in prayer and virtue at home.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) President Alyssa Janis notes, “Mrs. Mochty inspires our students and families to grow in their Catholic faith. The living rosary she organized created a beautiful moment of prayer, reverence and community that touched everyone’s heart.”

Building a Family of Faith

Stacey makes every school event meaningful. She highlights the beauty of Catholic traditions through St. Carlo Acutis Day, Advent wreath projects and visits to the Blessed Solanus Casey Center.

“Holy Family School offers the most important course of study—the study of our Catholic faith and the word of God,” she explains. “We are all still students in his classroom.”

Parents and staff praise Stacey’s joyful witness and strong leadership.

“Her heart inspires hope, her words uplift and her steady example reminds us that kindness and love can overcome anything,” says parent Jamie Braun.

PTO Vice President Laura Dern adds: “Mrs. Mochty’s dedication inspires our students, staff and families to grow together in wisdom, service and love of Christ.”

With unwavering faith and joyful leadership, Stacey Mochty transforms Holy Family School into a community where students learn to trust God and live as disciples.

“Being part of their journey,” Stacey says, “is the greatest blessing I could ever receive.”
