Gratitude from Otsego Foundation: Your gift gives hope to tornado victims

The Otsego Community Foundation shares a message regarding the recent contribution from all parishes of the diocese:

June 21, 2022

Dear Diocese of Gaylord,

Thank you for your generous gift of $150,000 to the Tornado Response Fund of the Otsego Community Foundation. The fund was established to provide a centralized opportunity for donors to invest in disaster relief efforts and a support mechanism for nonprofit organizations responding to the crisis. Our goal is to work collaboratively with the nonprofit, government, philanthropic and private sectors to accelerate recovery for a thriving, resilient and even stronger Gaylord. To date over $1 million has been raised and $390,000 awarded in grants.

Only a month into this journey and with the long road ahead, your gift gives us hope.

Disaster recovery is the process of improving individual, family and community resiliency after a disaster. Recovery is not only about the restoration of structures, systems and services – although they are critical. A successful recovery is also about addressing sources of inequitable and unjust outcomes, and individuals and families being able to rebound from their losses and sustain their physical, social, economic, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Please continue to pray for all affected by the tornado as well as those involved in recovery efforts. Isaiah 58:11-12

With gratitude,

Dana Bensinger
Executive Director
