Deepen your faith during a fun-filled fall afternoon with Bishop Jeffrey Walsh on Sunday, Sept. 24, starting at 1:30 pm. Join Bishop on the scenic Leelanau Trail for a leisurely bike ride that begins and ends with worship through eucharistic adoration and catechesis. Riders may bike all or part of the trail; non-riders are encouraged to participate in adoration and/or catechesis. RSVP required. 2023 Wedding Anniversary Mass
The Most Reverend Bishop Jeffrey J. Walsh cordially invites married couples celebrating milestone anniversaries of 10, 25, 50 and 60+ years in 2023 to a celebration of marriage. This special event will include Holy Mass and a blessing by Bishop Walsh, followed by a light reception in the parish hall.

Matthew the Apostle- Feast Day
Each year on September 21, on the Feast day of St. Matthew the Apostle, we are called to reflect on Matthew, son of Levi. As a tax collector for the Roman rulers, he was a subject of scorn, one of many hated "publicans," regarded as criminals by honest men.
Yet Jesus chose Matthew. Matthew left his lucrative lifestyle to become a faithful disciple of Jesus, teaching us that no matter how far we stray, it is never too late to turn back to God.
A tax collector turned apostle, proclaimer of the gospel and martyr, Matthew serves as an example of the transforming power of God's grace.
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
On September 14, Catholics celebrate two historical events: the recovery of the Holy Cross by St. Helena and the dedication of the basilica and shrine built on Calvary by Constantine, marking the holy site of the Crucifixion.
The antiphon for today states, "We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life and our resurrection: through him we are saved and made free."
Collect Prayer:
O God, who willed that your Only Begotten Son should undergo the Cross to save the human race, grant, we pray, that we, who have known his mystery on earth, may merit the grace of his redemption in heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
Our Lady of Sorrows
On September 15 as we honor Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, it is important to understand the true meaning of the word sorrow. Unlike sadness, which can be seen as a form of self-pity, sorrow is one of the Beatitudes. "Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).
Despite witnessing the brutal treatment of Christ, she did not despair. Her holy sorrow, so deep and pure, also extended to the sins of those who inflicted such suffering on her Son, ultimately allowing her to harbor no hate as she witnessed these sins.
